Chemistry 5070 States of matter Solid, liquid and gas

Hi! Do you know? There are how many
states of matter. Principally, there are six states of matter
Solid, liquid, gas, plasma, bose-Einstein condensate and semi-liquid.
However, solids, liquids and gases are regarded as
the three fundamental states of matter. Let us explore these fundamental states
of matter to clear our concept relevant to chemistry 5070. In conclusion, I will
ask a few questions which you can answer in the comment section. The most fascinating
fact about it is we naturally know the difference among fundamental states of
matter from our childhood. Our brain is naturally able to differentiate among
these three types of matter.
Within this article, scientifically,
we will compare different properties of fundamental states of matter.
Solid
Shape and volume (Solids
have fixed shapes and occupy definite volume).
Fluidity (Due to strong forces of attraction, particles of
solids can vibrate only. Solids cannot flow).
Compressibility (Due to the absence of voids
within solid particles, solids are non-compressible).
Liquid
Shape
and volume (liquids have an indefinite
shape with a fixed volume. The shape of the container or vessel is in fact, the
shape of the liquid).
Compressibility (liquids are non-compressible since particles of the
liquids have negligible spaces among them).
Diffusion (liquids can diffuse. e.g food colourings).
Fluidity ( liquids and gases are called fluids due to their
ability to flow).
Gas
Compressibility (As there are large empty spaces present among the particles
of gases. Therefore, gases can be compressed).
Diffusion (particles of the gases can diffuse).
Shape
and volume (gases do not have definite
shape and volume. The volume of the vessel is the volume of gas).
Fluidity (just like liquids gases can also flow and diffuse).
